MoneyGuidePro System Security
The security of your clients' information is of critical importance to you - and to us. Here's why you can feel confident that your clients' information is secure.

VeriSign 128-bit SSL Encryption

The moneyguidepro.com website uses a VeriSign 128-bit Global Server ID for your security benefit.

Physical Security of Client Data

The MoneyGuidePro software system is resident on servers (hardware) that are protected from physical harm and intrusions.

The servers are located in a state-of-the-art Internet Data Center located in Richmond, Virginia.

The Internet Data Center is a facility with the widest range of physical security features, including state-of-the art smoke detection and fire suppression systems, motion sensors, 24 X 7 secured access, video camera surveillance and security breach alarms. Two security levels restrict individual access only to the areas required for specific job functions.

We perform daily back-ups on the system. Once each week, the back-up tapes are taken to a secure, off-site location.

Electronic Security of Client Data

All client data associated with MoneyGuidePro software is resident on a secure server protected by two levels of electronic security, a router providing network address translation and a packet-filtering firewall. Each level of security prevents either intentional or accidental unauthorized access through a combination of client-server authentication procedures and secure communications protocols.

When you access your clients' data on the MoneyGuidePro server, the data is encrypted when traveling between your computer and the server, using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. Additionally, the use of VeriSign's server authentication assures you're accessing the correct site through the combination of public and private key encryption. You know you are accessing a secure site, with these two industry-standard protections, when the padlock icon is displayed in the bottom bar of your browser.

You have selected a User ID and password, which allows you to access the client information you have entered in prior sessions. It is important that you: (1) choose a password that is not obvious and (2) protect your User ID and password from unauthorized discovery or use.

Granting Access to Other Advisors or to the Client

You may allow other advisors to access your clients' data by using MoneyGuidePro's "sharing" feature. It is your responsibility to keep the "Share with Other Users" list up-to-date.

You may also allow a client (or client's representative, such as an attorney or accountant) to access their information in MoneyGuidePro by creating a "Guest User ID" and password. Once a guest has logged into the system using the ID and password you selected, he/she can change the password. At any time, you can disable the guest's access to any or all of the client's information.

Additional Protections

The security systems and protocols on the MoneyGuidePro website provide all the industry-standard protections available to electronic commerce sites.

Even with this assurance and level of protection, some clients may be concerned about the security of their data. In those situations, there are additional actions that could limit the ability of anyone to associate specific client information with a particular person. MoneyGuidePro limits the amount of personal information collected to:

  • First and last name
  • Date of birth
  • State of residence
It is important the year of birth and the state of residence are accurate so the program will correctly calculate taxes, tax penalties (if applicable), and required minimum distributions from qualified assets.

For additional protection, you could input a partial or fictitious last name. The name you input into MoneyGuidePro is the name that appears on the title page of Client Reports.
